Athletics: Registration for Grandma's Marathon starts at the end of January

Duluth, Minn.: The first step to getting registered for the 28th annual Grandma's Marathon, the 14th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and the 11th annual William A. Irvin 5K is to request an entry form. Those interested in any of the above races should send a self-addressed, stamped, #10 business size envelope and a note specifying which race they wish to receive an entry form for, to:

Entry forms for Grandma's Marathon will be mailed at the end of January, for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon at the end of February, and for the William A. Irvin 5K in mid-March. Specific mailing dates will be posted on the Grandma's Marathon web site, www.grandmasmarathon.com, as the time gets closer.

The 2004 Grandma's Marathon weekend begins on Thursday, June 17 with the SMDC Health and Fitness Expo and continues on Friday, June 18 with the Michelina's All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner, Whipper Snapper Races for Kids, guest speaking presentations and the William A. Irvin 5K (6:00 p.m.).

The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and Grandma's Marathon are on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 6:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. respectively. In addition, the Staff and Board of Grandma's Marathon are pleased to host the 2004 USA Women’s Half Marathon Championship on June 19. The race starts at 6:15 a.m. and will be run on the same course as the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon.
