Triathlon: CEO Ironman Challenge

The list of participants that are registered so far for the 2004 CEO Ironman Challenge is now available at http://www.ceochallenges.com/2004participants.htm.

Currently there are 17 CEO's and company Presidents who will be competing for the title of "Fittest CEO in North America", and one of 5 slots to the Hawaii Ironman World Championship in October.

To date we have only one female competing for the one slot, however another female competitor is close to signing up.

There is currently only one person who will be competing for the over 50 slot - Chuck Chokel of White Mountains Insurance. Chuck is the former Chairman of the Board of OneBeacon Insurance before it was acquired by the large White Mountains company.

So far, 6 competitors will be going for the 40 - 49 slot, with three of the six returning from last year's event. As a matter of fact, John Schlagenhauf of Badger Trucking has the distinction of being the only person that will compete in all 4 CEO Ironman Challenges!

The competition for the remaining 2 slots will be fierce in the under 40 category, with nine competitors signed up so far - and five of them competed in last year's CEO Challenge. In this category is Doug Lebda, the founder and CEO of LendingTree - the company that has provided over $55 Billion in loans since its inception!

The field is shaping up to be one of the best, and race organizers expect to fill all 30 slots in the next few months. The 24-week to Ironman Lake Placid training plan begins Feb. 9, and each registered CEO will be receiving daily swim, bike, and run workouts, plus details on private coaching as part of the CEO Challenge.

On top of the usual benefits of first class lodging, incredible functions, and VIP rights for families of the CEO's, this year organizers have also built in race entries to one of the two spring Half Ironman races, and a comprehensive Kids Multisport camp to be held race week.

People who are interested in signing up for this year's CEO Challenge are encouraged to do so quickly to ensure they take full advantage of the comprehensive training program and other early season benefits.

More information, and an entry form, can be found at www.ceochallenges.com, or by contacting Ted Kennedy at ted@ironmanusa.com, or via phone at 352-243-0948 x 23.
