Posted: January 15, 2004 Athletics: Registration Opens For St. Anthony's Carillon 5K ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2004) - Registration has begun for the St. Anthony's Carillon 5K, presented by Echelon. Designed to showcase St. Anthony's new Carillon Outpatient Center, the event is the newest addition to the Tampa Bay area's road racing calendar. The race, which will be Saturday, May 15, 2004, will start and finish at the new outpatient center and wind its way throughout the Carillon office park. To register for the race, visit St. Anthony's web site at www.stanthonys.com. The inaugural event will be organized and managed by the same team who produces the world-famous St. Anthony's Triathlon, one of the largest and most popular multi-sport events in the United States. Organizers expect the race will attract a minimum of 500 participants and will become an annual community event that also showcases the booming Carillon area. The event will have something for everyone, featuring a 5K run, a 1-mile run/walk for the less competitive and kids races. The race also will offer ChampionChipÔ timing, a USATF certified course, a post-race party, T-shirts for all participants and awards to the top three finishers of each age group. The proceeds from the event will benefit St. Anthony's Health Care, a not-for-profit health care organization committed to improving the health of the community. St. Anthony's new Carillon Outpatient Center is scheduled to open April 2004. The facility will be one of the largest and most comprehensive outpatient centers in the Tampa Bay area.
