Triathlon: The Race for a Place… for the 2004 Half IRONMAN UK Triathlon

The 2004 Half IRONMAN UK Triathlon to be held on 22nd August at Sherborne Castle is once again filling in record time with only a few remaining slots left for interested athletes to register their place.

Race organisers are once again left stunned at the swift response of athlete registration and how quickly the spots are being snapped up. The IRONMAN opportunity for pre-registration once again proved to be hugely popular with over 1,800 interested athletes taking up the invitation to enter their details and receive a 48 hour pre-notification of registration going live.

Now only 2 months after registration was activated, all but a handful of race spots are left of the initial 1500 possible slots to race the 2004 IRONMAN. Organisers predict the race to be full nearly after the New Year, even earlier than in 2003, and would urge athletes to contact them as soon as possible if they are interested in racing to avoid disappointment.

The 2004 race is on course to being every bit as successful as last years highly acclaimed event with athletes signing up from around the globe eager to sample the IRONMAN race within such historic and rural setting.

The buzz surrounding the 2003 race is also returning to Sherborne and the surrounding areas, with heightened community interest building day by day with many locals returning to the IRONMAN Race Office to register as volunteers. It looks as if Sherborne is definitely the place to be once again on the 22nd August 2004.

Behind the scenes plans are going well with Race Director Ron Thorne commenting: "I am absolutely delighted with the rate at which things are going this year. It just goes to prove the scale at which the IRONMAN UK race has grown within the public eye in recent years - long may it continue."

Those with an interest in the Half IRONMAN UK Triathlon are seriously urged to visit the event website on www.ironmanuk.com to register their spot as places will only be accepted on a first come first served basis.
