Posted: February 3, 2004 Athletics: Race Results Weekly Releases Annual Athlete Performance Database Great Tool for Searching 2003 Distance Running Results NEW YORK -- Race Results Weekly, the wire service of distance running, announced the release of its 2003 Athlete Performance Database. It's the eight edition of the annual compilation of middle and long distance results from over 2000 track, road racing and cross country events worldwide. "The 2003 database is the biggest we've ever compiled," said Editor and Publisher David Monti. "The file is 3.3 megabytes and contains the results of nearly every significant competition held last year." The annual database, compiled since 1997, allows users to search for results of events or those by individual athletes. It is particularly useful for event organizers who want to check the performances of potential athletes, and allows for the quick compilation of an athlete's annual record of results. "This is the same database I will use to compile the athlete bios of events I work with," added Monti. The database is delivered via e-mail and is offered as a simple text file. No special software or computer skills are required to use it. The file can be opened in any text editor, like Microsoft Wordpad or Word and searched using the "search" command of the software. The annual database sells for $275 ($175 for RRW subscribers). Orders can be placed at www.raceresultsweekly.com/database.htm.
