Posted: February 8, 2004 Triathlon: Kuril and Lang Take Back to Back Wins in Winter Triathlon Action Patrik Kuril delighted his home country fans at today’s ITU Winter World Cup in Strbské Pleso, Slovakia by taking the second stop of the 2004 Winter World Cup. He posted the fastest split on each of the 8.5km run, 6.84km mountain bike and 11.97 skate-ski. Kuril also took a solid hold on the Winter Triathlon World Rankings by repeating the victory he had in Wildhaus, Switzerland two weeks ago. German teammates Thomas Schrenk and Daniel Hehle were 2nd ant 3rd. In the women’s event, Sigrid Lang (left) of Germany swept through all three segments with the fastest split, cruising to victory 5:30 ahead of her teammate Gabi Pauli. Germany swept all podium spots as Jutta Schubert was 3rd, 9:05 behind Lang. Winter Triathlon will stay on in Slovakia for next weekend’s Donovaly ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup 13, 14 February. Other events in the series in Candanchu, Spain on 6 March and the World Championships 13, 14 March, back in Wildhaus, Switzerland. More...from the ITU.
