Posted: February 10, 2004 Athletics: Maui Marathon Woos Valentines - 2004 Maui Marathon Offers Two-for-One Entry for Valentine's Day KAANAPALI, MAUI, Hawaii - (February 4, 2004) - Runners who are head over heels in love with each other can run side-by-side in the 2004 Maui Marathon for the price of one announced race officials. Scheduled for September 19, 2004, the Maui Marathon is offering one free entry with a paid marathon entry if they are mailed together and postmarked by Valentine's Day, February 14, 2004. The free entry can be used for either the full marathon, half-marathon or Maui Tacos 5K. Considered to be one of the most romantic and alluring locales in the world, Maui is world renowned for breathtaking scenery and has become a top destination for weddings and honeymoons. "Our sunsets are just stunning," said Debbie Graham, director of romance for The Westin Maui. "In fact, over 85% of our weddings are held at sunset for that reason." Valentine couples do not have to profess their undying love for one another to qualify for the special two-for-one marathon offer. "Your Valentine can be a friend, running partner, relative or any other relationship," said Bob Craver, race director. "As long the paying party enters the full marathon and the entries are mailed or faxed together by February 14, 2004, the Valentine runs for free." Couples will also receive the opportunity to purchase two-for-one "In Training" t-shirts. Entry into the Maui Marathon is $60.
