Posted: February 10, 2004 Athletics: American Cancer Society Kicks Off Annual "Relay For Life" In Lawrence, Indiana (Lawrence, IN., 2/05/04) - With the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life at Lawrence North High School just a few months away, organizers are inviting anyone interested in joining the fight against cancer to form a team or volunteer to help at the event. The Relay For Life will take place June 4th-5th at Lawrence North High School. Community members are invited to learn more about Relay For Life and how they can become part of the event at www.cancer.org. Relay For Life is the Society's signature activity dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds to fight cancer. Team members from businesses, families, schools and places of worship walk a track and camp-out during 24-hours of entertainment, celebration and reflection. Cancer survivors are recognized in a special "victory lap" and a luminaria ceremony honors and remembers those who have faced cancer. "Relay For Life brings together cancer survivors, caregivers, families and friends to celebrate life while honoring those who have lost their cancer battle," said Margie Worrell. "It is truly inspiring to witness the teamwork and effort that Marion County residents put into making Relay a success each year." This year's Relay For Life at Lawrence North will take place date at location, from 4 pm on the 4th to 4 pm on the 5th. To volunteer for the Relay For Life or for more information about forming a team, contact the American Cancer Society office at 317-347-6670.
