Athletics:Johnson And Mottram Win Melbourne 5000's By David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved < RaceResultsWeekly.com> At today's Telstra A Series meeting in Melbourne, Benita Johnson and Craig Mottram won their respective 5000m races in world leading times. Johnson, the bronze medalist at last year's IAAF World Half-Marathon Championship, clocked 15:23.68, well ahead of second place Hayley McGregor (15:49.78). Both women are coached by Nic Bideau. Melissa Rollison (b. 13-Apr-1983) was fourth in 15:55.19. In the men's race, Mottram broke the tape in 13:25.97, well off of his Australian record 13:12.04. Mottram is also the fastest-ever Australian at 3000m (7:37.30) and has run 3:52.90 for the mile. Second place Andrew Letherby ran 13:45.23. Other meet highlights include a 3:37.49 win in the 1500m by Alastair Stevenson and a 1:46.23 800m win by Tanzanian Samuel Marwa. Look for complete detailed results in Monday's Race Results Weekly.
