Athletics: Elite Canadian Marathoners coming in droves to ING Ottawa Marathon as Bruce Deacon confirms!

The field of competition for Canadian marathoners grows wider by day as elite runners confirm their plans to run Ottawa on May 30.

Two-time Ottawa Marathon winner Bruce Deacon confirmed his plans to run in 2004 amidst a growing number of Canadian marathoners looking to win a Canadian Marathon Championship and a new 2004 Hyundai Tibouron. Bruce was the number one ranked Canadian runner in 2002 and the third fastest Canadian in 2003. Other Canadian marathoners hoping to edge out returning champ Joseph Nderitu include: Jim Finlayson, 3rd place finisher in Ottawa and 2nd fastes Canadian in 2003, Dave Turgeon and Peter Vail (4th and 6th fastest Canadians in 2003 respectively) and a number of elite runners making their marathon debut in Ottawa.
