Athletics: Programming Announcement Marathons+ produced by Salmini Films

The March 2004 one-hour episode of the sports series "Marathons+" was released today for distribution by Salmini Films/sportfilm.com and TWI. TWI is the largest independent producer, packager and distributor of sports programming in the world. The series currently airs in over 45 countries.

The "Marathons+" program is the official broadcast series of AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Road Races. This episode of "Marathons+" is packed with highlights and news items from the top marathons and road races around the world.

The following highlights are included in this month's one-hour episode:

· Road racing the way it should be.for four decades the San Blas Half Marathon in Puerto Rico has been part festival, part parade, part homecoming, and the best racing in the world.

· America's fourth largest city, Houston, Texas, hosts a top early season Marathon and half-marathon on flat fast courses.

· And a sportfilm.com Athletic Archive, featuring a top event from the glorious history of the sport. It's off to Milan for the 2000 Avon Global Championship with some great racing from the field of Olympians, world champions, and world record holders.

· 24 hours a day, year round, the dice roll, the slots whirl, and the cards fall, but things slow down just a bit as thousands arrive downtown by foot in the annual Las Vegas Marathon.

· And continuing with a regular feature on Marathons+..Great Marathon Champions, this month showcasing two time Boston Marathon winner Geoff Smith of Great Britain, and Ingrid Kristiansen of Norway, a Boston, New York and Chicago winner.

· Nestled in the calm, turquoise waters of the western Caribbean lies the peaceful British Crown Colony known as the Cayman Islands.and their Marathon is .no sweat.

· 20,000 runners descend on Tampa, Florida for the warm weather and the 15k challenge of the Gasparilla Distance Classic, with the full marathon the next day.

· A Marathons+ Golden Moment, showcasing a great event or athlete from the illustrious history of the sport. The 1998 Boston Marathon featured an exciting duel right to the wire by two of the world's best.

· Plus a look up at one of the unique events that provides a stress test within the first 30 seconds.it's the annual Fleet Empire State Building Run-Up, a New York Road Runners event.

· And no episode of Marathons+ would be complete without some type of event out on the edge. The Avia Urban Scramble in and around the underbelly of Manhattan was a classic street level adventure.
