Posted: March 12, 2004 Athletics: Pavey Off Of GBR World Cross Team From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com U.K. Athletics announced this morning the Joanne Pavey had withdrawn from the IAAF World Cross Country Championships with a calf injury. "I had a slight calf niggle prior to the World Indoors which has responded well to treatment from the U.K. Athletics medical team," said Pavey in a written statement. "However since returning from Budapest I have had a few days of easy training and in Olympic year do not wish to take any risks, particularly given the demanding nature of the course in Brussels." Pavey will be replaced in the 4-K race by Kathy Butler (Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow), who together with Paula Radcliffe will now compete in both the 8-K and 4-K races.
