Running and Triathlon: RunnersWeb Announces Substantial Traffic Growth The Runner's Web was founded as a hobby site in 1996. RunnersWeb.com Inc. is now a small business venture which sponsors the OAC Racing Team, a women's road racing and triathlon club, and the OAC Gatineau Triathlon and OAC Corporate Relay. The Runner's Web aims to provide a portal into the world of running - including athletics (track and field) and road running, triathlon and adventure racing. In addition to providing access to the resources desired by participants of all age levels and abilities, the site provides timely news and features on a global scale on a 7 day per week basis with frequent, multi-times-per-day updates. The Runner's Web also distributes the "Digest", a weekly digest of information on running, triathlons and multisport activities. It is sent each Friday via an email list. Members can receive information in three ways:

Ranking: The Runner's Web is the top ranked Google site for "Running and Triathlon". (Note 1) The Runner's Web is ranked number two in popular running sites in Alexa's Directory Rankings. (Note 1) Runner's Web content news indexed by Google News Search, NewsNow in the UK, Yahoo News, News4 Sites, BigNews Network and AllTriathlon.com and recently has been made available an RSS feed through myYahoo! The Runner's Web site is NOT affiliated with the two UK based Runner's Web copycat sites. The Original Runner's Web was created in January of 1997. The RunnersWeb.com domain name was registered in August of 1997. In February of 1998 a UK site RunnersWebUK.com was registered and in June of 2000 a RunnersWeb.co.UK was registered. Both UK sites have been contacted and refuse to change their names. The editor of the Runner's Web is Ken Parker. Ken is the founder and former President & CEO of Sirius Consulting Group Inc. which he sold in February of 2004. (Sirius founder gives up corner office for running track). He is the founder and coach of the Ottawa Athletic Club Racing Team established in 1981 and was a founding coach of the Ottawa Lions Track Club. He is a former marathoner and co-founder and race director of Ottawa's National Capital Marathon and a number of other road races including the 1981 Avon International Marathon.
