Posted: May 21, 2004 Athletics: Athletics Canada Confirms Hosts for National Championships in 2005-2006 Edmonton to Host the 2004 Paralympic Open Nationals May 20, 2004 Ottawa, ON – Athletics Canada is pleased to announce that the following cities and host organizations have been awarded national championships for the next two years – 2005 and 2006.
Also of special note is the fact that Edmonton will be the official host of the this year's Paralympic Open Nationals, taking place August 6-8. The winning hosts were determined through a new bidding procedure which involves a detailed application process as well as review and approval by Athletics Canada’s competitions committee. Athletics Canada is committed to further developing its national championships to enhance the experience for athletes and spectators. Athletics Canada is the national sport governing body for the sport of track and field including cross-country running and road running. Its purpose is to support high performance athletics excellence at the world level and to provide leadership in developmental athletics. Athletics Canada is a not for profit, charitable organization operating under a board of directors elected by provincial / territorial members. | ||||||||||||||||||
