Posted: May 27, 2004 Triathlon: CEO Challenge Entry To Close June 15 LAKE PLACID, NY - Entries for the 2004 CEO Ironman Challenge will close as of June 15. So far 20 CEO’s and Company President’s have entered the competition that will see them compete alongside 2,000 athletes at the Ironman USA Lake Placid triathlon. CEO’s entered to date include Chuck Chokel, Chairman of the Board for One Beacon Insurance, who is the sole ‘over 50’ entry, and so far has no competition for the one coveted slot to the Hawaii Ironman World Championship in this category. There are two women entered, Shari Steele of Electronic Frontier Foundation and Carri Bennet of Bennet & Bennet Law Firm, who will be competing for the one Hawaii slot awarded to women CEO’s. Eight CEO’s will be vying for the one slot in the 40 – 49 age group, including John Schlagenhauf of Badger Truck Center who has been involved with all four CEO Challenges, and Mark Holowesko of Templeton Global Holdings who will be in Lake Placid for the third year in a row. Nine CEO’s will compete for the one slot in the under 40 category, including Doug Lebda, the Founder and CEO of Lending Tree.com, and five CEO’s who also took part in last year’s CEO Challenge. There will also be one Hawaii slot awarded to the next fastest finisher, regardless of age group. The CEO Ironman Challenge is a comprehensive program designed for CEO’s and President’s that includes the best coaching available, hands-on hosts that take care of virtually every need race week, 5-star accommodation, and an incredible VIP program for the CEO and their families including Kids Camps, boat cruises, bobsled rides, a ski jumping exhibition, and private dinner with the Pros. Rooms at the Mirror Lake Inn & Spa (the host hotel) will not be available for new competitors that sign up after June 15.
