Triathlon Ireland - National Series gets off to flying start

Brian Campbell(current Irish Triathlon Champion) wins the first National Series race of the season in 1hr 32 mins 40 secs.

Brian had a comfortable victory, winning by nearly 10mins over his nearest challenger Peter Savage. Brian has shown some great form recently, by winning the Limavady Triathlon and the Joey Hannon Tri in Limerick.

Anna Frankland, 26, from Dublin claims her first National Series title ever. Anna, who set up Tsunami Tri Club a few years ago has seen a steady improvement in her results lately. The hard training she put in over the winter paid off when she won a tightly fought contest with Heather Wilson (22 from Hillsborough, Hi-Elbow Tri Club). Heather won the Limavady Sprint Triathlon 2 weeks ago, and came 20th in the World Championships in Madeira 4 weeks ago. These two athletes were neck and neck for most of the race with Anna stretching a 20 second lead to 30 seconds by the end of the run.

It looks like triathlon Ireland is going to have a very exciting racing season this year. The next National Series race takes place in Galway, the City of the Tribes Triathlon, on June 12th.
