Posted: June 8, 2004 Athletics: Radcliffe To Lead GBR Team For European Cup From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com UK Athletics reported today that Paula Radcliffe will not only compete in the 5000m at the European Cup in Bydgoszcz in 19, 20-Jun, but also serve as captain of the women's team. "I am looking forward to racing at the European Cup," said Radcliffe in a press release. "It is always a big thrill to run for your country and it is an honour to be captain again. We have a strong women's team and hopefully we should do well in Poland." Radcliffe, 30, the world record holder in the marathon, is preparing for the women's Olympic Marathon in August where she will be challenged by reigning world champion, Catherine Ndereba, of Kenya; reigning New York City Marathon champion, Margaret Okayo, also of Kenya; and 2003 world championships silver medalist, Mizumi Noguchi, of Japan.
