Posted: June 10, 2004 Triathlon: Canadians Dominate Tongyeong ITU World Cup Start List The July 12 Tongyeong ITU World Cup in Korea could prove one of the most interesting 2004 World Cup events to date for Canadian Triathlon fans. The Canadian women dominate the start list for the event. Three of the top five women on the Tongyeong start list hail from Canada, and Penticton's Jill Savege will be making her 2004 ITU World Cup debut in Korea. The Canadian team has not yet been announced and with such depth amoung the Canadian women several of the women will want to prove themselves fit for the Olympics. Jill Savege, Carol Montgomery (Vancouver), Natasha Filliol (Paris, ON) and Samantha McGlone (Montreal) are all ranked in the top 30 in the ITU world rankings. There are only three spots available to the Canadian women to compete in Athens. Brent McMahon from Victoria has already met the ITU qualification standards but must finish in the top ten in Tongyeong to meet the Canadian Olympic Committee Qualification standards to be eligible for Athens. The complete Tongyeong ITU World Cup start list is now available on www.triathlon.org. Live coverage on www.triathlon.org from Tongyeong will begin at noon local time (3:00 am GMT).
