Triathlon: SAP Canada Inc. Sponsors Volunteer Team at SUBARU IRONMAN Canada

SAP Canada Inc. Runs with the Best

PENTICTON, BC., June, 2004 – Ironman Canada Inc. is pleased to announce today that SAP Canada Inc. will be supporting more than 5,000 volunteers at Subaru Ironman Canada being held on August 29th 2004, as this year’s official Information Technology Company of Subaru Ironman Canada, and title sponsor of the volunteer team. Known throughout the world as the ‘Iron Army’, Ironman volunteers provide support for one of the most exciting races in the world.

“Ironman Triathlons are large, logistically demanding events that rely on volunteers to deliver mission-critical event functions effortlessly and seamlessly such as registration, aid stations and swim-bike-run transition zones,” said Paul Carreiro, Senior Vice President at SAP Canada Inc. “Regardless of whether you are a professional triathlete or a SAP® customer, you want reliable technology and the best people working hard for you. That’s why SAP Canada Inc. is a proud sponsor of the volunteer team at Subaru Ironman Canada, a group of people that make this event fun for triathletes and a global success each year.”

Held in Penticton, British Columbia, Ironman Canada is the oldest Ironman race to be held in continental North America. Running annually for the past 22 years, Subaru Ironman Canada featured the largest single-wave swim start in Ironman history with 2,032 athletes in 2002. In 2000, Subaru Ironman Canada was forced to go to a lottery registration system because eager participants filled all available positions in a single day, making the Penticton event one of the most popular Ironman races in the organization’s history.

“We are very happy to have SAP Canada involved with our volunteer team at Subaru Ironman Canada,” said Ironman North America President Graham Fraser.

“Without the volunteers, an event of this magnitude could not take place. They are a critical component and we are glad to see SAP Canada supporting them.”

The event is organized by Ironman North America, one of the World’s premier event companies. For more information on Subaru Ironman Canada, log onto www.ironman.ca.
