Posted: July 3, 2004 Triathlon: FISU World Triathlon Championships Palma de Mallorca, Spain: Canada’s fastest University athletes will be traveling to the Spanish island of Palma de Mallorca to compete at the 7th FISU World University Triathlon Championships. The FISU World Triathlon Championships are contested every two years, in the draft-legal Olympic distance format. For many athletes, this will be there first exposure to world-class draft-legal racing. All athletes qualified to represent Canada at the Sherbrooke Triathlon on May 29th. The Women’s team consists of Caroline Amyot (Waterloo), Kristie Henry (Waterloo) and Lina Augaitis (UBC). The Men’s team consists of Alexis Ascah (UQUAM), Jean-Luc Trépanier (UM Polytechnique), Eerik Randsalu (Waterloo), David Clinkard (Queen’s), and Stéphane Martel (U Sherbrooke). The FISU World Triathlon Championships will take place on Saturday July 3rd, with the women starting at 9:30, and the men taking to the water at 12:00.
