Posted: July 4, 2004 Athletics: Lel And Chepkemei Prevail At Peachtree Road Race From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com The Associated Press reported this morning that Kenyans Martin Lel and Susan Chepkemei had prevailed at the 35th running of the Peachtree Road Race this morning in Atlanta, USA. Lel, the reigning ING New York City Marathon champion, crossed the finish line in 28:04 (unofficial), moving up from fourth place at last year's race. Chepkemei, who won the Peachtree last year, finished in 31:55 (unofficial) to defend her title. Men's defending champion Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot third behind road running ace, John Korir. Constantina Tomescu-Dita, a Romanian based in Colorado, finished second while 40 year-old American Colleen De Reuck finished third. |
