Posted: July 7, 2004 Athletics: Ottawa's Joyce Burghardt Enters Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame Ottawa's Navy Lieutenant-Commander Joyce Burghardt (formerly Switzer) , a member of the Ottawa Athletic Club Racing Team, will be inducted into the CF Sports Hall of Fame this October: the ultimate honour that is bestowed upon Canada's best military athletes. She will join former OACRT members Lynne Bermel (in 1992) and Sharon Donnelly (in 1999). Joyce has won the CF women's running championship a record 8 times and on several occasions has represented Canada overseas at international running events including competing 3 times at the World Military Games (essentially the Olympics for the military).
