Posted: July 11, 2004 Triathlon: Stepehenson and Kealey Win OAC Triathlon The 22nd Annual Heart Institute Triathlon presented by the Ottawa Athletic Club was a huge success today in Gatineau Park! The National Capital Region's largest triathlon saw the most competitive field in 22 years! With many of the previous year's winners in contention - Jamie Stephenson won the title in a time of 1:19:03. The swim of 1200 metres in picturesque Meech Lake was followed by a 22km cycle, and finished up with a 7km run! Athletes of all levels proved their fitness levels on the beautiful but challenging course. The first team overall which was a dream team of sorts named "Gonna Tri Now" was made up of Bruce McNicoll, Bruce Ketchum (both previous individual winners from other years) and very popular runner Andre Okenge. They finished in a time of 1:16. Three times lucky for Sheila Kealey in the women's draw with her third win in four years - finishing in a time of 1:29 The Heart Institute and the Ottawa Athletic Club once again partnered for this charity sporting event to raise monies and awareness for our worthy Heart Institute.
