Athletics: Radcliffe, Holmes Lead British Olympic Squad

Paula Radcliffe and Kelly Holmes lead the middle and long distance squads for the British Olympic team announced today by the The British Olympic Association (BOA). Radcliffe, the world record holder in the marathon, was selected for both the 10,000m and the marathon, while Holmes was selected for both the 800 and 1500. Radcliffe has said in the past that she doesn't intend to double in Athens, but has yet to decide which event she will contest. Conversely, Holmes has said she does plan to attempt the middle distance double.

Additional athletes may be selected when the BOA selection panel meets again on July 19. [Note: The marathon squad was previously announced.]
