Sportsmedicine: On Eve Of Olympics-Study With Cold-fX'R' In International

Sports Medicine Journal Praises Dope-Free Canadian Medical Discovery

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA -- July 22, 2004 (TSX VENTURE SYMBOL: CVQ) - CV Technologies Inc. today announced that the results of a doping-control clinical trial with its lead product COLD-fX(R) in competitive athletes is to be published in the August issue of the respected - International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism.

The lead investigator for this ground-breaking study was Sports Researcher and University of Manitoba professor, Dr. Grant Pierce. Dr. Pierce headed a U of Manitoba team of scientists administering COLD-fX to 40 athletes over a one month period. Samples were collected and processed under strict IOC guidelines exactly as would happen at the Olympics. Trial participants were tested for all the roughly 200 drugs on the IOC's list.

The results of this trial showed that COLD-fX does not contain banned substances. It also does not produce or induce banned substances in the body. The research team concluded that this specific product can be used for its immune-boosting properties without concern for testing positive for substances banned and restricted by the IOC. In their research paper, the sports researchers state that they believe that this is the first study ever carried out under the strict IOC doping control standards to evaluate dietary supplements for their capacity to induce positive doping urinalysis.

An IOC study of 634 sport supplements purchased randomly from 215 manufacturers in 13 countries found that one in seven contained a banned substance. Up until now the IOC and the World Anti-Doping Agency have had very little data upon which to respond to such claims. They now do for at least one product - COLD-fX."
