Posted: July 29, 2004 Triathlon: CEO Ironman Challenge donates $5,000 to Leukemia and Lymphoma Team in Training LAKE PLACID, NY - On behalf of the twenty-one CEO athletes competing at Ironman USA Lake Placid on July 25, the CEO Ironman Challenge has donated $5,000 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Team in Training. This donation was made on behalf of Kendra Holmes, who helped with the CEO Challenge the previous three years, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, and is undergoing treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. The $5,000 donation was added to money collected by Rob Craw of the Northern California chapter of Team in Training. This addition to his fundraising efforts allowed Rob to move into third place in the Janus Charity Challenge at Ironman Lake Placid, resulting in an additional contribution of $6,000 by Janus Capital Group to his fundraising efforts. "I wanted to express my gratitude and thanks for choosing our cause to benefit from the CEO Ironman Challenge's incredible generosity", Rob said. "I was totally blown away when Casey Cortese of Janus told me the amount of your donation. Our efforts today can't change what is in the past but we can still affect tomorrow. If we can generate $1 that helps one person have a positive outcome we have done our job." The CEO Ironman Challenge is a competition within the Ironman USA Lake Placid triathlon, with CEO's and President's competing for the right to be called the 'fittest CEO in North America', as well as the chance to earn one of five slots to the Hawaii Ironman World Championship in October. A charitable donation is made each year on behalf of the CEO athletes taking part in the Challenge.
