Athletics: Devers, Moore named to Olympic sprint rosters

ATHENS - Gail Devers (Duluth, Ga.) has been moved into the 100 meters and LaShaunte'a Moore (Fayetteville, Ark.) has been added to the 200 meters on Team USA's track & field roster for the 2004 Olympic Games. They replace Torri Edwards, whose two-year suspension issued by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency was upheld on Tuesday by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Devers is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 100 meters, having won in 1992 and 1996. The three-time world champion in the 100-meter hurdles also is slated to compete in the hurdles in Athens. Devers, 37, was fourth in the Olympic Trials 100m dash (11.11) and won the 100m hurdles (12.55). She owns a personal best of 10.82 in the 100, run in 1992 and '93, and a 100m hurdles best of 12.33, her American record from the 2000 Olympic Trials.

Running for the University of Arkansas, Moore won the 2004 NCAA 200-meter title. She finished fourth in the 200 at the 2004 Olympic Trials in a time of 22.64, and her Olympic Trials semifinal time of 22.63 stands as her wind-legal personal best. Moore was fourth at the NCAA Championships in the 100 (11.31) and ran a personal-best time of 11.26 in the semifinals at the meet.
