Posted: August 26, 2004 Triathlon: Bowden withdraws from Subaru Ironman Canada PENTICTON, B.C.- The 2004 Subaru Ironman Canada will start on Sunday August 29th without five-time champion Lori Bowden (CAN) in the field. The current Ironman World Champion had planned to race in the Penticton, B.C. race but has withdrawn to concentrate on her preparations to defend her title at the Ironman World Championships in Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii. Bowden, 37 year-old has a total of 12 Ironman titles to her credit. The resident of Victoria, B.C. won the Ironman World Championship in 1999 and 2003. Subaru Ironman Canada is the oldest Ironman event in continental North America and will take place for the 22nd time in Penticton, B.C. on Sunday August 29. Athletes will be competing for 100 qualifying spots to the 2004 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii as well as a $75,000. (Cdn.) pro prize purse. For more information, log onto www.ironman.ca.
