Athletics: Running Legend Bill Rodgers Headed to Chicago Half Marathon
Run With A Legend...
Chicagoans have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to run with Olympian and four-time Boston and New York City Marathon winner Bill Rodgers, at this year's 8th Annual, Sunday morning, September 19th.
Get Inspired...
To sign up, join Bill on Saturday (Sept. 18th) from 11-11:45AM during the Chicago Half EXPO at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel. There, Bill will entertain Half Marathon participants at a special free seminar with stories of his marathon wins, share training and running tips, followed by Q&A with participants.
The first 500 people that come to hear Bill and want to run with him, will get a FREE colorful wristband that says "I Ran with Bill Rodgers."
Run With Bill On Sunday...
Then, on Sunday, during the Half Marathon, Bill Rodgers will seek out all 'mid-packers' wearing those colorful bands and run along with you - offering tips and encouragement. These wristbands are the only way he'll know you're to run with him.
Join Bill At The Expo...
Following his Saturday seminar, Bill will also be available at the EXPO to sign posters and autograph copies of his latest book, "The Complete Idiots Guide to Running". Bill has served as an inspiration to thousands of runners throughout the years. Ranked #1 in the world in the marathon by Track and Field News in 1975, 1977 and 1979, Bill's running career has spanned three decades of excellence and includes multiple marathon wins and awards.
This year, The Chicago Half Marathon EXPO is selling way cool "Cheer Gear" - great looking T-shirts with lakefront skyline, mugs and posters.
Join Us In The Run...
Rub elbows with Mr. Nice Guy. You and Bill can run the scenic 13.1 mile gem of a course along south Lake Shore Drive then through Jackson Park and the Midway Plaisance @ the University of Chicago. Talk with him after the race and enjoy the post race festivities.
Free Post Race Concert By Little Feat...
There's a FREE post race concert with legendary rockers Little Feat - immediately following the awards ceremonies. Little Feat will put on an entire show in Jackson Park, right behind the Museum of Science and Industry.
