September 15, 2004:

The September 2004 episode of the sports series “Marathons+” was released today for distribution by Salmini Films/sportfilm.com and TWI. TWI is the largest independent producer, packager and distributor of sports programming in the world.

The “Marathons+” program is the official broadcast series of AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Road Races. This episode of “Marathons+” is packed with highlights and news items from the top marathons and road races around the world.

Visit sportfilm.com for more information.

The following highlights are included in this month’s one-hour episode:

· · Sweden’s seaport city hosts the 25th edition of the Goteborg Half Marathon, one of the top running events on the continent.

· · 55,000 runners, $ 85,000 in prize money, 10,000 meters. Well, it must be July 4th. It must be Atlanta, Georgia…it must be the Peachtree Road Race.

· · It’s only four miles, but the Steamboat Classic in Peoria, Illinois, is a flat out sizzler for the racers out front and the thousands that follow.

· · One of the top road races in the world brings thousands to Cape Cod for a 7-mile tour along Martha Vineyard’s Sound in the SBLI Falmouth Road Race.

· · An extraordinary elite field dashes through the streets of Puerto Rico for major prize money and prestige in the 20th annual Abraham Rosa 10k.

· · Moving uptown, the shopping comes later, first it’s a straightaway sprint in the elegant Fifth Avenue Mile in New York City, a New York Road Runners event.

· · Going back a quarter century for the sportfilm.com Athletic Archive, it’s the 1981 Fifth Avenue Mile in which Sydnee Maree’s winning 3:47 is still the event record.
