Posted: September 16, 2004 Athletics: Bells of Pattingham Run 2004 Set for October 17 The well known Bells of Pattingham Run, now in its 15th year, takes place on Sunday 17th October, starting at 11.00 am from the Village Hall Playingfields. The first run back in 1990, was organised to raise money to replace the old wooden bell frame in the belfry of St. Chad's church in Pattingham. Because of its popularity, the run has continued over the years and now is a respected event in the running world with well over 600 taking part. The run starts and finishes in Pattingham over a 7 mile off-road, multi-terrain course, under UKA/ECCA rules. Entry fees are £6.00 for UKA affiliated club runners and £7.00 for non-club runners. Advance entry forms can be obtained by ringing the hotline at 01902 700065. The closing date for advance entries is the 8th October. Entry on the day is permitted at a fee of £8.00 for all runners. All proceeds from the race are now used for local charities, such as the West Midlands Air Ambulance, and also to help St. Chad's church funds. All runners finishing receive a 'Bells Run 2004' brass and the first runner from the Parish of Pattingham with Patshull will be presented with the silver plated cup to be held for one year. This trophy has been generously donated by the Riches family. Entry forms are available from Pattingham Hardware, Pattingham Dental Surgery, or Chad House on the Hotline 01902 700065.
