Posted: September 23, 2004 Athletics: Amanda Chase Joins Zap Fitness From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Zika Palmer of the ZAP Fitness Foundation announced yesterday that Amanda Chase, a Lyon Mountain, N.Y. native and Hamilton College (N.Y.) graduate, has been accepted into ZAP’s coveted resident program for elite athletes. ZAP Fitness is located in Blowing Rock, N.C., USA. Chase, 22, showed promise as a collegian; however, it was her first year as a post collegiate athlete in 2003/2004 where she caught the eye of the elite running community. Upon graduating from Hamilton in 2003, Chase’s 1500m best was a modest 4:36. One year later Chase has now run 4:22 and is already eying the 2008 Olympic Track & Field Trials. The addition of Chase brings to eight the total number of athletes in the ZAP program. “We are very excited to have Amanda joining the team,” said Palmer in a prepared statment. “Clearly she has only begun to scratch the surface of her talents. I know she will fit in well here.” Comment on this story. |
