Former Senior Sports Physiologist For U.S. Olympic Training Center

Colorado Springs, CO - The week of September 13th, 2004, Carmichael Training Systems (CTS) welcomed a new addition to their staff, Jay T. Kearney, who will be serving as Vice President of Health and Sports Services. Dr. Kearney’s scope of responsibilities will consist of: developing/launching the flagship Performance Center here in Colorado Springs, leading research and development for new health products/services including formulas for functional foods that support the periodization approach to nutrition; and developing educational programs for CTS coaches and members.

The Performance Center is being developed as a focal point for the coaching and performance services offered by CTS. The Center will provide physiological, biochemical, sport nutrition, and sport psychology assessments and services. Additionally, the center will offer hands-on coaching, sport-specific training camps, nutritional programs, training classes and resident camps.

Prior to CTS, Dr. Kearney served as Clinical and Scientific Advisor and Vice President of Clinical Affairs at HeatheTech, Inc. (HETC) from September 2000 until the present. At HETC, he coordinated all aspects of the R&D process and the work of product design engineers, research scientists, and clinical advisors to design and implement HETC tools and technology; analyzed and summarized literature pertaining to product development; and developed educational and training programs.

Dr. Kearney has an impressive background in Sports Science and Technology with the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC). While at the USOC he served as Head of Sport Physiology, Senior Sport Physiology, and Director of Sports Services and Technology. In these roles he worked with coaches and athletes from a wide array of both Summer and Winter Olympic sports. The program objectives were to apply an interdisciplinary approach to performance optimization and achieving sustained competitive excellence.
