Duathlon: Don & Allen to Contest European Duathlon

Tim Don, the 2002 World Duathlon Champion, has confirmed that he will be racing for Great Britain in this Sunday’s European Duathlon Championships in Swansea, Wales.

Don, a member of the Great Britain Olympic Triathlon Team and winner of this year’s British Triathlon Championships held in Liverpool, will attempt to secure a European Title before heading back to his home in Stellenbosch, South Africa for the winter. Don made a big impact in triathlon this year when he finished fourth in the ITU World Championships in Madeira.

It has also been confirmed that another of Great Britain’s elite athletes, Richard Allen, will take to the start line at Swansea this Sunday. In addition to being a leading international triathlete, Allen has won British titles in Duathlon.

Don and Allen will face Lino Barruncho of Portugal, World Championship Silver Medallist, in the ITU World Series as well as World Under 23 Champion, Joerie Vansteelant of Belgium.

The European Duathlon Championships will have live audio, real time results and real time pictures for both elite and age group races. Log on to the British Triathlon Association’s website on www.britishtriathlon.org and use the Swansea 04 links for more information.
