Posted: September 27, 2004 Drugs in Sport: André Bour tested positive at Powerman Italy The german duathlete André Bour was tested positive at his victory at Powerman Italy. The German Triathlon Federation (DTU) announced this on the 11th of September and banned him for only 9 months, which is concerning to old anti-doping-rules 3 months under the maxium suspension. The German Triathlon Union (DTU) justify this, because Bour proved that he had taken medicine before the race. Now journalistis revealled that concerning to experts, who had an eye on the Bour`s statement, it is very unsure that the ephedrine in his urine sample came only from his medicine. In July 2004 German Triathlon Union (DTU) annouced that the German triathlete Thomas Braun was tested positive at IRONMAN France 2003. In his urine A and B samples they found ephedrine, caffeine and an anabolic steriod. The German Triathlon Union (DTU) has given Braun a suspension for a year, so that Thomas Braun will be allowed to take part at triathlon competitions in Germany at the end of November 2004. Also tested positive was Katja Schumacher at IRONMAN Germany 2004 - at begining of September the German Triathlon Union (DTU) banned her for a year. The organsators of the IRONMAN Germany declared that Katja Schumacher will not be allowed to take part in Frankfurt for three years. Comment on this story. |
