Posted: October 10, 2004 Athletics: Rutto Wins Chicago Marathon From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com CHICAGO (10-Oct) -- With a strong surge just past the 30 km mark, Evans Rutto of Kenya broke open the 27th edition of the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon and romped to victory here for the second year in a row. His finish time of 2:06:16 (unofficial) was just two seconds off of the fastest time in the world this year and slightly faster than what he ran in London when he won there back in April. Rutto now has three marathon victories in three starts. Daniel Njenga of Kenya finished second in 2:07:46 (unofficial) and Toshinari Takaoka of Japan finished third in 2:07:51 (unofficial). Four-time champion, Khalid Khannouchi of the USA, came from well off the pace to finish fifth, in a sub-2:09 clocking. LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon (27th) - Chicago, IL, USA; Sunday, October 10
