Multisport:: Kate Starre Joins team Sirius as Marketing Director And Team Manager

Kate Starre

October 22, 2004 • Kate Starre (armdale, Australia), a two-time Olympic gold medal winner for the Australian Field Hockey Team joins Team Sirius as our Marketing Director and Team Manager.

She is currently the assistant field hockey coach at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Starre, a member of the Australian National Team since 1990, participated in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, as the Australian team captured two gold medals. The team also made an appearance in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona but fell short of a medal. Starre helped the Australian team win the World Cup in 1994 and 1998. Additional accomplishments include winning the Champions Trophy (1991, 93, 95 and 97) and winning the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kaula Lumpur. Kate was the 5th australian player to play more than 200 games internationally.

Prior to Ohio State, Starre had six years of coaching experience. She was the head coach at Kanbalda Ladies College in Sydney, Australia, in 1994 and St. Mary's Ladies College in Perth, Australia, in 1995. Starre came to the United States in 1996 and joined the staff at Northwestern University as an assistant coach (1997-98). Starre also completed two seasons as the head coach of the Rush Field Hockey Club (2001-02).

She has a Level 1 national strength and conditioning accreditation and Level 1 national field hockey coaching accreditations. Starre is a perfect example of what Sirius Athletes are all about: Hard Work, Dedication and an unwavering focus on achieving her goals.

So, why is this fantastic athlete taking on a job with the Sirius Athletes team? Kate says, "i respect any athlete that is willing to put it all out there to do there best. i understand the financial restraints and want them to be able to achieve without the stress about $$$. it is rare to be able to be involved with any one group that is elite so i think it is an honour."

While working for Sirius Athletes, Kate plans on training under Siri Lindley for running, her goals being to achieve a personal best in both the 5k and the 10k.

We welcome her to the Sirius Athletes Team!

Contact Kate at ksta10@yahoo.com for all queries on how to sponsor our team and on scheduling appearances with our talented athletes. Kate will be in charge of organizing training camps, clinics and promotional events for Team Sirius.
