Multisport: Carmichael Brings Back Winter Trainer Classes

CTS Athletes Demand Power Based Workouts

Carmichael Training Systems (CTS) recently announced its indoor trainer class sessions for this winter season (2004-2005).

This year, CTS will be featuring two (2) sessions of winter power training classes: a 7-week session starting November 6th and an 8-week session starting January 8th. The sessions include an outdoor field test, Tuesday and Thursday evening indoor trainer classes held from 6-7 pm, and the newest offering, coach led training rides every other Saturday.

Held annually for three years, CTS indoor trainer sessions are consistently in demand due to their unique offerings. One of the appeals to this class is the more extensive, one-on-one coaching that is provided. Experienced CTS endurance coaches create individualized workouts based off of proven Carmichael training methodologies. Athletes participating in these classes can expect enhanced leg strength, better climbing ability and increased fitness.

A major feature that is distinctive to the class is the use of Power Tap power meters. Power meters allow participants to monitor their progress in their training while offering feedback for adjusting individual workout efforts. Further class offerings include: the assignment to a personal Carmichael Senior coach, the use of a Cyclo-ops trainer during indoor class, nutritional analysis, online training calendar, access to Carmichael Coaching Tool, and more.

Active enthusiasts from all backgrounds are encouraged to join the class. Past years have attracted a diverse composition of students; from beginner to competitive cyclists and triathletes. Coaches welcome participants with all sorts of workout objectives: aspirations for weight-loss, desires to keep in shape and active during the constrictive winter season, to complement the winter training of competitive athletes, et cetera.

And perhaps even more exciting, Chris Carmichael will personally teach a few classes each session and plans to offer some specific workouts used in Lance's training regimen.

CTS works with athletes from a wide variety of sports including six-time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong, 2000 Triathlon Olympic Gold Medalist Simon Whitfield, Montreal Canadiens Captain Saku Koivu, 2001 Mountain Bike World Champion Alison Dunlap, World Record Swimmer Ed Moses, and Indy Car racers Eliseo Salazar and Tony Kanaan. CTS is also the official coaching service of the US Postal Service Cycling Team, the US Paralympic Cycling Team, and the Trek/VW Mountain bike team.
