Posted: November 5, 2004 Athletics: Fin del Mundo Marathon Set for March 6th On Sunday 6 March 2005, the third edition of the "Fin del Mundo Marathon" will be held in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego. Competitors will run the "forty-two southernmost kilometres in the world", tracing a route with a stimulating environmental value: the start will be from Bahía Lapataia, a bay within the NATIONAL PARK:TIERRA DEL FUEGO, at the very southernmost extreme of the American Continent, to which access will be gained aboard special catamarans; the route, for the first kilometres at least, will be on rough unmade roads of pebbles, through the typical Fuegan woods and forests, and then passing onto the southernmost roads of the planet, along the coast of the Beagle Channel, ending at the port of Ushuaia. The Fin del Mundo Marathon is within an international circuit of marathons which means that a large number of marathon-runners from all parts of the world are sure to compete.
