Athletics: USATF seeks Long Distance Running Programs Manager

News & Notes, Volume 5, Number 76

USA Track & Field is seeking a candidate to fill a new position focused on supporting a number of long distance running (LDR) events and programs. The candidate should be hardworking, creative, and personable and should demonstrate a strong understanding of the various LDR disciplines (including road running, cross country, and mountain, ultra, and trail running) and the Olympic Sport movement.

The LDR Manager will work closely with USATF's LDR Sport Committees as well as the Elite Athlete, Marketing, Events and Communications departments on LDR community outreach, LDR Championship promotion and service, USA Running Circuit programs, LDR communications including relevant sections of www.usatf.org. The LDR manager will also contribute to marketing proposals and sponsor fulfillment related to LDR events and programs.

McLean joins Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis

Former USATF Executive Director of Programs Thomas E. McLean has been named Director of Resource Development and Marketing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis. McLean will have overall responsibility for the marketing, promotions, fund raising, special events and communications areas of local Boys & Girls Clubs.

Prior to his new position, McLean spent 11 years at USATF. He also has served on various local committees to promote and bring business to the City of Indianapolis with The Coca Cola Circle City Classic Gala, Rose Awards, Indiana Sports Corporation Champs Grant and the NCAA Final Four; and served as President of Minorities in Hospitality of Indiana.

McLean was an NCAA 800m champion while at Bucknell University, and he was co-captain of Bucknell basketball team coached by legendary Coach Jim Valvano.
