Posted: November 24, 2004 Athletics: Kim Smith To Run Manchester Road Race From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Providence College senior Kim Smith will hope to recover quickly from her NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships victory two days ago. She'll need to in order to make a successful professional road racing debut tomorrow at the Manchester Road Race in Manchester, Conn. Race organizer David Prindiville announced today that Smith would take part. Smith, a New Zealander, was an easy winner at Monday's race in Terre Haute, Ind., beating the nearest woman by 18 seconds over the 6 km course. But on the hilly 4.78 miles or roadway in Manchester she'll tangle with course record holder Emilie Mondor, five-time winner Amy Rudolph and Olympians Shalane Flanagan and Nicole Teter. Mondor's record of 23:59 (5:01 per mile) was set last year. Comment on this story. |
