Posted: December 4, 2004 Athletics: Berlin To Host 2009 IAAF World Championships In Athletics From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com By Bob Ramsak Berlin was selected as host of the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Athletics at the second day of the IAAF Council Meeting in Helsinki today. The German capital's bid, powered by the recently concluded four-year 240 million euro (USD 310 million) renovation of the 1936 Olympic stadium, beat out bids by Split, Croatia and Valencia, Spain. The 2005 edition of the championships will take place in Helsinki next August, with Osaka hosting the 11th edition in 2007. Comment on this story. |
