Posted: December 4, 2004 Athletics: Mcgregor Defends Zatopek Title From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com
By Bob Ramsak Haley McGregor successfully defended her 10,000m crown at this evening's Telstra Zatopek Classic in Melbourne. The 25-year-old McGregor broke from Anna Thompson with five laps to go to win in 32:41.10, well ahead of Thompson’s 32:48.07. "I haven’t had the best preparation leading in, so it was a bit of an unknown," said McGregor, who contested the event at last summer's Olympic Games. "I struggled early, but felt better and better as the race went on." David Ruschena won the men's race in 28:59.55. Look for complete results in Monday's RRW. Comment on this story. |
