Posted: December 4, 2004 Athletics: Briefs - Kluft Boston-Bound; New Coach, Locale For Phillips By Bob Ramsak, Track Profile (c) 2004 Track Profile all rights reserved TrackProfile.com Olympic heptathlon champion Karolina Kluft will compete at next month's Reebok Boston Indoor Games, organizers announced. The 21-year-old Swede, who is also the reigning World and European heptathlon champion, is expected to compete in the long jump at the January 29th Boston competition. Just four days after winning the Olympic heptathlon title in Athens, Kluft qualified for the Olympic final in the long jump as well, where she finished 11th. In March, she jumped to a bronze medal in the long jump at the World Indoor Championships. The women's long jump will be contested for the first time in the meet's history at next month's tenth edition. Kluft is sponsored by Reebok, the Boston meet's new title sponsor. Olympic long jump champion Dwight Phillips has a new coach. After relocating to Snellville, Georgia, near Atlanta, Phillips will now work with Paul Doyle. Phillips, who captured both the 2003 indoor and outdoor world titles, was previously coached by Arizona State University coach Greg Kraft since 1998.
