Multisport: Call for Nominations for Ottawa's Outstanding Athletes and Coaches for 2004

The annual Ottawa Sports Awards will be held January 19, 2005 recognizing outstanding athlete performances during the 2004 calendar year.

An Athlete of the Year for each sport, winter and summer, will be selected. Athletes must have competed for an Ottawa team/club or be an Ottawa resident for at least the past two years or have grown up in the Ottawa sport system but may be training and competing at a national training centre in another city.

Priority is on international and national performance, a minimum result of provincial champion is recommended for nomination.

One Athlete of the Year 2004 per sport,
Male and Female Team of the Year 2004,
Male and Female Coach of the Year 2004.

There are also two Lifetime Achievement awards for lifetime contribution to Officiating (Technical Official) and lifetime contribution to sport development in Ottawa (Volunteer Sport Administrator.

Nominations can be submitted via email to: wilsonrj@rogers.com, or by dropping them off at the security desk of the Ottawa Citizen, including the name and background of your nomination, including accomplishments and your name and phone number by December 15th.

For athletes and teams still competing through to December 31, updates to your nomination will be received and accepted up to that date.

The awards evening will be held at Algonquin College, 1385 Woodroffe Avenue, in Building D, Salon a & B with a cash bar opening at 5:30. Dinner is at 7:00 PM. Ticket prices are $500.00 for individuals and $375.00 for a corporate table of 8.
Corporations are encouraged to consider purchasing tickets and donating them to athletes nominated to receive awards.

The Ottawa Sports Awards organizing Committee consists of Pat Reid (Chair), Mike Scott (Awards), Bob Wilson (Registrar), Barclay Frost (Corporate Sales), John Bales (Technical) and Jim McAuley (Treasurer).
