Posted: January 5, 2005 Athletics: Millrose Games In Trouble? From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com A news report published in today's Newsday revealed that one of New York City's great athletics institutions, the Millrose Games, may not be held in 2005 due to a lack of sponsorship. The 98th edition of the games was scheduled for 04-Feb. The article, written by reporter John Jeanesonne, reported that the Games could be cancelled if the Los Angeles-based company which owns them, Professional Sports and Entertainment Inc., cannot find a new title sponsor this week. The primary sponsor of the meet last year, Verizon, has withdrawn. The full text of the report can be read at: NewsDay. Comment on this story. |
