Athletics: Deadline for National Capital Race Weekend Athletic scholarship is January 17

Ottawa, ON January 5, 2005:

The deadline for applications for the $3000 National Capital Race Weekend Athletic scholarship is Jan 17th, 2005.

The scholarship is open to all Canadian athletes that will be attending a post-secondary school in the 2005-2006 school year.

About the National Scholarship

This national scholarship is intended to encourage rising stars in the Canadian running field. In 2005 the National Scholarship ($3,000) will be granted to a rising Canadian long-distance athlete.
To be eligible, athletes must complete an application in which they will be required to submit their running resume as well as their monetary needs for the upcoming academic year. They must be a Canadian citizen and a full-time student at a post-secondary institution. A jury will decide based on athletic ability, financial need, volunteerism and scholastic grades.

Last year's winner was Taylor Murphy from the University of Guelph.
