Posted: January 5, 2005 Triathlon: U.S. In Search Of A Triathlon National Championship Site COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 4, 2005) -- USA Triathlon continues to work to find a site for its 2005 age group national championships. This race will be the only 2005 qualifier for the 2005 International Triathlon Union (ITU) Age Group World Championships, scheduled for Oct. 8-9 in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the beginning of December, USA Triathlon was in final contract negotiations with an eastern city to host the national championships. Unfortunately, that city pulled out of the negotiations at the last minute, forcing officials to find other possibilities. "It has been as frustrating for us as it is for our members," said USA Triathlon owned events coordinator Jeff Dyrek. "We are still hoping for a June or July date for the race. Once we find a city, we promise our members we will put on a first-class race." When a decision is made, USA Triathlon will make an official announcement on its web site and send an official release to the triathlon news organizations. Further questions can be directed to Dyrek at jeff@usatriathlon.org.
