Triathlon: America West Airlines signs on as offical airline of Ironman Arizona

Airline to offer free bike shipping to athletes

TEMPE, Ariz.-America West Airlines, based in Phoenix, will serve as the official airline of inaugural Ironman Arizona Triathlon being held on Saturday, April 9, 2005.

America West will also serve as title sponsor of the Ironman Athlete Village for the event. The America West Ironman Athlete Village will be located at Tempe Beach Park from Wednesday-Saturday of race week (April 6-9), and will be the central hub for Ironman Arizona activities throughout the week.

As part of their sponsorship of the event, America West will offer free bike shipping for those athletes who book flights for the event through America West.

Two weeks after they book their flight; athletes will receive an e-mail with a certificate for free bike shipping.

Athletes will then print the certificate and present it to the America West ticket counter agent, who will waive the $80 each way bike-shipping fee.

This offer is only available by booking through the Ironman Arizona web site. Athletes cannot receive their certificate by booking directly with America West.
