Athletics: 2005 USA Running Circuit Schedule Announced

NEW YORK (12-Jan) -- Elizabeth Phillips, the chair of USATF Women's Long Distance Running, last Monday released the following 2005 schedule of USA Running Circuit Events, featuring a total of $463,750 in prize and grand prix bonus money. The grand prix purse of $25,000 is paid to the top-3 male and female performers throughout the series based on a point system. The prize money listed for each event is the amount available exclusively to U.S. citizens who are USATF members; the events may have additional prize money available for all-comers.

16-Jan    USA Men's Half-Marathon Championships
          Houston, TX  $17,500 in prize money

12-Mar    USA Men's and Women's 15 km Championships
          Jacksonville, FL  $47,000 in prize money

26-Mar    USA Men's and Women's 8 km Championships
          New York, NY  $40,000 in prize money

09-Apr    USA Men's 10 Mile Championships
          Louisville, KY  $26,500 in prize money

14-May    USA Men's and Women's 25 km Championships
          Grand Rapids, MI  $21,200 in prize money

05-Sep    USA Men's and Women's 20 km Championships
          New Haven, CT  $36,000 in prize money

11-Sep    USA Men's and Women's 5 km Championships
          Providence, RI  $30,000 in prize money

18-Sep    USA Women's Half-Marathon Championships
          Des Moines, IA  $29,500 in prize money

01-Oct    USA Men's and Women's Marathon Championships
          Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN  $138,000 in prize money

09-Oct    USA Women's 10 km Championships
          Boston, MA  $23,000 in prize money

05-Nov    USA Men's 10 km Championships
